live games at the Salamanca chess festival

From May 21st to 25th the "Salamanca cradle of modern chess" chess festival commemorates how in Salamanca in the year 1497 the newborn rules of modern chess were compiled. These new rules were published by Lucena, a student at the Salamanca University, as part of an incunabulum titled "Art of chess with 150 match games".

The festival includes a wide program of activities, including a master tournament, including GM Kirill Alekseenko, GM Michael Adams and GM Ruslam Ponomariov.
